The Prince of Liechtenstein, John Bolton and Hillary Clinton

One of the perks of living in DC is that there are events happening all day, every day around town. This is the capital of politics, and this means interesting people both live here and travel here for numerous reasons.

In the past few weeks, I’ve attended an event where John Bolton, the former National Security Advisor to the Trump administration, was giving the keynote speech. I’ve shaken hands with the Prince of Liechtenstein, who participated in a discussion about trade after Brexit. His whole title is as magnificent as His Serene Highness Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein. I have also had the opportunity to listen to Ko Barrett, vice chair of the International Panel on Climate Change, as she presented the results of the recent IPCC Special Report on the Ocean and the Cryosphere, launched in the end of September. How cool is that!

But the absolute highlight so far – and probably one of the absolute highlights overall – was when I got to sit in the front row of the GW University’s Lisner Auditorium and listen to Hillary Clinton!

Hillary Clinton has written a book called The Book of Gutsy Women together with her daughter Chelsea Clinton, and at this event they talked about their book and the stories in it. They have chosen around a hundred women and written short stories about them and their lives and achievements, personal tragedies and obstacles overcome. To attend the event you had to buy the book, and I really look forward to start reading it!

Wow. I sat 10 meters away from Hillary Clinton. I am still kind of starstruck.
